Geological features and resource potential of rare earth minerals in Mongolia

    • Mongolia is rich in rare earth mineral resources. This paper studies the metallogenic geological background and typical rare earth deposits in Mongolia. The Mongolian rare earth deposits are divided into five genetic types:alkaline granite, carbonate, pegmatite, ion-adsorption, and rare-earth placer.Among them, Alkaline granite type and carbonate type are the main genetic types of rare earth minerals in Mongolia. This paper divides Mongolia into three rare earth metallogenic provinces and seven rare earth metallogenic belts.Combined with the geological background of mineralization in Mongolia and the development of minerals, the paper has preliminarily divided into three potential areas for the exploration and development of rare earth deposits in the potential areas of Tuva-Kousuguer rare earth mine, the potential area of the Kent rare earth mine and the potential area of the Dlanzaidade.
