Abstract: The paper briefly introduces the number and distribution of abandoned coal mines in China in the past two years, analyzes and expounds the geological characteristics of abandoned coal mine resources, it is proposed that the key research directions of six resources geology work of abandoned coal mines in China, it is considered that the distribution and occurrence characteristics of abandoned coal mine resources should be studied in order to provide basic geological data for the rational development and utilization of abandoned coal mine resources.Finally, the authors put forward seven suggestions in order to develop and utilize the abandoned coal mine resources faster and better, and transform the advantages of coal resources into economic, environmental and technological advantages.
