Abstract: Compared with the studies on the trade of natural graphite, in-depth analysis of the cross-product trade competition pattern based on the comprehensive perspective of industrial chain is of great significance for ensuring the stable development of the whole graphite industrial chain in one country. Uncovering the structure of the graphite trade competition patterns in global is vital for the policy-making related to the security of the graphite industry. Based on the existing research, this paper builds a graphite trade competition network in global by applying multiplex network theory, which could help analyze the trade competition structures of the graphite products from an industrial perspective. The results show that the scale of the graphite trade competition network in global continued to increase, and the competitive relationships between countries stayed close during the period from 2000 to 2021. The results also show that there are stable and significant similarities between the trade competition structures of different graphite products, and the weighted degree correlations between different networks decreased. The results indicate that the trade competition patterns of different graphite products might gradually become different in the near future. Furthermore, the results show that there is a significant increasing trend in the competition between the RMTCN and PPTCN. It provides the information for countries to detect the cross-product competition between raw materials and primary products in the graphite trade. This paper provides suggestions for making the graphite trade competition strategies and improving the international competitiveness of graphite industry.
