Abstract: The construction of green mines is an important measure to implement Xi Jinping’s Thought on Ecological Civilization and practice the concept of green development in the mining field, it has become a common social consensus after nearly 20 years of development. With the in-depth promotion of the reform of the ecological civilization system, the construction of green mines will become an effective path for the green and low-carbon transformation of the mining industry and an inevitable choice for sustainable development. As a major mining province, Yunnan Province has always attached great importance to the construction of green mines. It has taken effective measures to accelerate the green and low-carbon transformation of the mining industry. At present, 77 green mines have been built, including 22 national-level ones and 55 provincial-level ones. The newly revised Mineral Resources Law of the People’s Republic of China clearly emphasizes the need to strengthen the construction of green mines, the Notice on Further Strengthening the Construction of Green Mines jointly issued by seven departments including the Ministry of Natural Resources clearly requires the comprehensive promotion of the green mine construction. Facing new systems, goals, and requirements, by systematically reviewing the construction process of green mines in Yunnan Province, comprehensively summarizing and analyzing the current situation and existing deficiencies, this paper puts forward countermeasures and suggestions, including strengthening top-level design to improve the construction of the policy system, promoting the construction in an orderly manner through classification based on the provincial conditions and mining situations, and enhancing publicity and guidance to boost the enthusiasm of enterprises. The purpose is to provide a reference for the next-step comprehensive promotion of the construction of green mines in Yunnan Province.
