Abstract: Petroleum is important strategic mineral resource in China, which is related to the development of the national economy and society, as well as national security. Petroleum geological data is the crystallization of achievements and data assets formed in the work activities of the petroleum industry, and is an important fundamental and strategic information resource for the country. The United Kingdom（UK） has abundant petroleum resources. As a developed country, its petroleum geological data submission management regulations and policies are sound, the management level is high, and the system is relatively complete. Starting with the research on petroleum resource management institutions, laws and regulations, petroleum mining rights settings, and data submission management policies, this paper tracks and analyzes the regulations and policies for the submission of petroleum geological data in the UK. It specifically elaborates on the scope, deadline, format, and methods of submission, as well as the protection period of petroleum geological data in the UK, summarizes good practices.
