Abstract:
To understand shale gas exploration prospect of Lower Cambrian Wangyinpu Formation in Xiuwu basin, took the methods of field geological survey, core observation, experimental test analysis and mathematical modeling, preliminary studied the thickness, buried depth, organic geochemical characteristics, reservoir characteristics and gas-bearing features of the rich-organic matter shale in Wangyinpu Formation of Xiuwu basin.Research shows that the rich-organic matter shale in Wangyinpu Formation is shallow shelf facies. The effective thickness is 53m.The top buried depth is 200~4000m.The shale has higher abundance of organic matter with generally of 2%~14%.The kerogen types isⅠ.The maturity of organic matter had reached a mature stage. The mineral composition of shale is given priority to with quartz and clay, which illite is dominated in clay mineral. The micro pores in the shale are mainly inter-particle pores,intra-particle pores, organic pores and microfractures.Mathematical simulation and isothermal adsorption experiment shows that the average shale gas content and Shale gas resource abundance of Wangyinpu Formation respectively is 2m
3/t and 2.54×10
8m
3/km
2.According to the geological analogy and comprehensive geological analysis, preliminary prediction that the Lower Cambrian Wangyinpu Formation in Xiuwu basin has a good exploration prospect of shale gas.
