Abstract: The diamond is one kind of nonmetallic minerals, which is rare and valuableand, playing a critical role in our national economic construction. This paper makes aanalysis of the general situation of diamond resources around the world, including the reserve distribution, exploration budget, production, diamond mining company, and then introduces detailedly the diamond resources characteristics and exploration levels of the diamond-rich countries. Compared with the diamond resources abroad, we find that our country has a sharp shortage of diamond reserves. In order to respond to the dilemma, the authors make some suggestions as follows: ① improving diamond exploration in domestic; ② intensively strengthening cooperation with African countries; ③ state-owned enterprises and private enterprises should jointly involve in the mining activities in Brics(except China); ④ flexibly investing potential diamond mines abroad; ⑤establishing stable diamond minerals supply bases.
