Abstract: The geological survey in Europe has developed for more than one century, which mainly serves for the geological mapping, mineral resources, geological environment, scientific research. In recent years, due to the structural adjustment of the global economy, the shortage of critical minerals, and the geological environmental problems are becoming increasingly serious, the European geological survey work also reflects some new trends. In this paper, we characterize the status and the development direction of the European geological survey, and then put forward the suggestions for our geological survey:first, the structure of geological survey should be adjusted strategically according to the national strategy; secondly, we should strengthen the study of the earth critical zone, and improve the capacity to service national economy; thirdly, we should build a platform to promote the integration of Asian or even the world scale geological survey.
