Abstract: The development of mineral resources is of great significance in Western China, And also it is an important way for breaking the bottleneck restrictions of national economic development, so the Western Development Drive will be accelerated and coordinated development of the region. Based on the detailed analysis about the position of mineral resources in western area and the present situation of its development and utilization, this paper raises the existing issues and elaborates them in accordance with such ways as improving labor productivity, reducing the costs, enlarging the technology content of mineral resources development, working out the strategic regulations of mineral resources industries, promoting adjustment of industrial structures, increasing the investment into environment protection etc.This paper has such a great value for reference as to evaluate the superiority and potentiality of mineral resources in western areas; make the regulations for development, utilization protection scientifically; lead mineral industries into sustainable, harmony and healthy development.
