Abstract: The paper uses factor analysis in the multiple statistical methods,and analyzes ecological environment quality of 30 coal cities in 2003,then constructs a system of evaluation indicators of the quality of the ecological environment,arrives at a comprehensive level of the main components and their scores at last.Then,studies in classification in accordance with the gross product of the coal cities,coal production and the feature of the spatial distribution,the conclusion is got that the ecological environment quality of the cities with higher gross product and coal production is higher than the average level of middle and lower city,However,they don't have the obvious relevance.Meanwhile,the quality of the eastern regions has a better advantage over the others.
