Abstract: As an important cooperation partner to China,the evolution of the mining technology of South Africa and current supportive policies and plans for its development provides valuable references for competent authority,research institutes and universities and enterprises of mining sector in China.In this article,the history and state of the development of mining technology in South Africa is introduced based on the patent and mining machine import and export data,and the role players of research and development activities and major policies,plans and projects are explored.Suggestions on enhancing bilateral cooperation between China and South Africa and bringing in South Africa talents in mining technology in the trends of the decline of mining through the channel of China- South Africa Joint Research Program and BRICS New Development Bank are recommended.
