Abstract: Based on two years' investigation on 42 cement material mines, this paper reviews the status of satety in operation in the China's large and medium scale cement materials mines in recent 6 years, analyses the major problems of safety in operation and presents a serial of suggestions on improving mine safety in terms of unifying the names and functions of mine safety management agencies, establishing unified safety rules and regulations, strengthening the construction of safety supervisory and act, taking safety indicator as one of the annual major indicators for appraisal performance in mines, stabilizing mine safety management personnel, enhancing safety technique education and training, strengthening industrial management and shift safety management and emphasizing popullarizing new safety theories and techniques, etc.
