Abstract:
The article discusses the safety policies and environmental aspects in uranium mining sector, and introduces some of best practices that can be learned from the uranium industry in some western countries such as Canada and Australia. It includes:before mine commence, there is a feasibility study in which stakeholders participate essentially; mining operations are undertaken under strict national health and radiation protection codes of practice; environmental management systems sound good; at the end of mine operation, rehabilitation programs must be implemented, money for this purpose can come from internal fund and external fund.
