Abstract: The production of many kinds of minerals in South Africa occupies world front row.In 2010,respectively,the production of kyanite,platinum group metal,ilmenite,chromite,ferrochrome and vermiculite was ranked number one;rutile,vanadium,and zircon was in the second rank;manganese ore ranked third in the world;and gold was in fourth place.In addition,at present,there are some important metal minerals which ranks front line in the world output,such as antimony,manganese,iron,uranium,and zirconium metals and ore concentrates.In terms of export,ferrochromium,andalusite ranks first in the world;the second top is manganese ore;and chrome ore is in fourth place.Therefore,mining industry has occupied the greatest proportion in the basic economy in South Africa.
