Abstract:
Based on the geochemical data of more than 40 samples in ore-bearing igneous(magrnatic)rocks whthin Padang area,Sumatra(Indonesia),this paper plots and demostrate some of the geochemicaltectonic setting discrimination diagrams by using the geochemical software of igneous petrology,in order to explain the tectonic environments of igneous rocks in this area, also to compare them to volcanic tectonic environments in adjacent area in west Sumatra nearby. The result indicates that the volcanic-intrusive rocks formed in margin arc of continent or volcanic arc of continent and active continent margin, whereas are orebearing tuff, tuffaceous rocks and quartz gangues are formed in a tension zone or initial rift environment within-continental plate(back-arc basin)near trough. The new finding adakitic tuffaceous rocks and adakitic quartz gangues similar to adakitic granite are formed in arc of active continental margin.
