Abstract:
The Huangjiang Hongshan ancient smelting site at hilltops of the riverside of Huangjiang River tributary, neared to Hongshan coal mining, are distributed in an area of exceeding 10000m
2 in the vicinity of Shangchao Town of Huangjiang County, Hechi City of Guangxi Zhuang Autonomous Region. About 3 elongated furnaces and a large number of smelting slag, coal ashes, and retorts have been found during investigations in the Spring 2005 and 2010. And a lot of slag heaps and broken fragments of retorts
etc. are collected. Literature reveals the Huangjiang Region started smelting silver within the Song dynasty, and smelting lead zinc silver and appearing a "crust of silver-zinc compounds" during the Ming and Qing dynasties. However, the smelting process, technological characteristics should be further researched.
