Abstract: Cobalt is an important strategic mineral and broadly used in battery,aerospace,machinery,ceramic and other fields.Chinese cobalt consumption has been increased so fast in recent years that China is the biggest consumer of cobalt.China has little resources and accounted for only 1.1% of the global reserves,so domestic raw material supplies are few to count.This paper forecasts Chinese cobalt consumption in next 10 years,showing that its demand will exceed 100000 tons by 2025,then points out that there is a shortage of cobalt resources and high dependence on external resources in China,as well the import source is very single.This paper also proposes some suggestions aimed at the increasingly fierce contradiction between supply and demand.These suggestions include:① "going out" actively;② strengthen the recycling of secondary resources;③ establish reserve system of cobalt;④ encourage technology innovation and alternative development;⑤ strengthen domestic mining exploration.
