Abstract: Zirconium is one of the strategic emerging mineral resources,which is widely used in ceramics,chemicals,foundry and casting,aerospace,nuclear power and so on.Recently,with the rapid development of the zirconium industry,China has become the large zirconium consumer and importer in the world.Based on the analysis of the characteristics,distribution,reserve,yield,import,market price of the zirconium resources in China,this paperputs forward that there are some problems existing inthe Chinese zirconium industry at present,such asthe inadequate geological exploration of the zirconium resources in China,high external dependence on zirconium resources,the back word technology,the irrational zirconium industrial structure,and the serve environmental pollution.Therefore,it is proposed that our country should enhance comprehensive survey of domestic zirconium resources,raise the mining and smeltingtechnology,optimize the industrial structure,as well as pay attention to resource and environment protection,so as to improve the competitiveness of the Chinesezirconium ore and products in the international market,and guarantee the healthy and sustainable development of Chinese zirconium industry.
