Abstract: Compared with the traditional database system, GIS has advantage in managing space vector data of characteristic database, expressing spatial relation of the data. Based on fact of some one national open mine corporation, adopting GIS software engineering (SE) technology, this paper plans a open mine ecology harnesing management information system, which includes graphic and topographic information processing functions. The system is definited by using structrue analysis method. Several practical model blocks are named.
