Abstract: According to the distribution，resources and reserves，coal quality，infrastructure of coal bearing area in Columbia，this paper discusses the prospect of coal resources development for Chinese enterprises in Columbia.Columbia is rich in coal resources，whose coal quality and geographical condition is excellent.It is the most favorable coal exporting country in south America.In the northern part of Columbia，La Loma，Cesar province and Cerrejon，Guajira province are the most suitable choices for constructing large scale open-pit thermal coal mines.They possess large scale reserves，good coal quality，favorable conditions for open-pit mining，and close to the coal expert terminal.In the central and northeastern part of Columbia，Qiegualangwa Thatcher，Cundinamarca province，Camoranesi-Jericho，Boyac province and Surya Zener，Norte de Santander province are favorable sites for constructing small-medium sized metallurgical coal mines.Chinese coal enterprises should carry out investment and development activities by cooperation and integrated management in accordance with detailed investigation and research to the coal bearing area.
