Abstract: Huaping area is located in the northwest of Yunnan province, adjacent to Panzhihua city, Sichuan province.Facing stones are widely distributed in this area, forming stone resources mainly composed of carbonate rocks, supplemented by clastic rocks and magmatic rocks.Starting from the background and significance of the development and utilization of stone resources in Huaping area, this paper mainly introduces the resource characteristics, exploration, development and utilization status of facing stone minerals in Huaping area, and analyzes the future stone industry layout in Huaping area, and puts forward some suggestions for the development and utilization of stone resources in the future.The results show that the main minerals of decorative stone in Huaping area are marble, granite and decorative sandstone.Marble ore volume is about 270 million m³, including 10 varieties of white, gray, yellow and black series; granite ore volume is about 300 million m³, including 2 varieties of dark purple red and gray series; decorative sandstone ore volume is about 170 million m³, including 3 varieties of dark red purple red series.The ore in this area is of good quality and decorative performance, which can meet the needs of people of different levels and preferences.With the rapid development of regional economy and the acceleration of urbanization construction, the stone industry in this area has huge market potential and broad prospects for resource development and utilization.It can build a provincial "stone industry group" in Northwest Yunnan with Huaping as the center and provide industrial support for local economic development.
