Abstract: At present，China is in the critical period of transformation from industrial economyto service economy，facing multiple challenges such as environmental protection，economic structural adjustment and so on.Energy consumption structure adjustment is imminent，and the proportion of natural gas and other clean energy in China’s primary energy consumption structure will continue to grow.Natural gas resources in China is not good，but the development potential is huge.It provides a resource base for the protection of energy security in China.Right now the demand of natural gas is strong，the dependence on foreign is rising，and the output is steadily increasing.The geological survey investment focuses on the direction of structural optimization.China’s natural gas industrial environment is great，the basic leading role of geological survey is prominent.Therefore，geological survey has a brilliant future.There are some suggestions on the next work.First，to organize a new round of oil and gas resource evaluation which Focus on unconventional oil and gas，to further understand the resources of our country.Second，to comprehensively evaluate for oil and gas performance，development and utilization of technology economy and environmental impact is necessary.Third，to strengthen the construction of the core team of oil and gas survey，at the same time introduce the market competition mechanism.Fourth，promote natural gas distributed energy technology，combined with the new technology of energy internet.
