According to the topographic characteristics of open-pit mines with large elevation difference, based on the rough terrain of the mine, the correlation of camera parameters, images parameters and flight parameters are analyzed. The mathematical models of relative altitude and the ground resolution, real overlap and preset overlap, flight speed and exposure interval are established. The corresponding calculation formula is derived. On the basis of conventional aerial photography design, a set of improved design method for UAV is proposed. The method is compared and contrast. The results show that compared with the conventional photogrammetric design, the method proposed in this paper can effectively avoid aerial photography loopholes and improve the quality, and the data redundancy and redundant workload by blindly increasing the overlap are averted. The requirement of remote sensing monitoring in open-pit mine with large height difference had been met.
