    Mineral resources status and potential of Russian Siberia region

    • The Siberian region is an important mineral resources area of Russia.Oil and gas resources are the main supply materials for the East Siberian-Pacific oil pipeline transportation system.The reserves and extraction of coal, uranium, copper, nickel, platinum, molybdenum, lead and manganese all rank first in Russia.The prospect areas of coal resources are concentrated in the south of Krasnoyarsk Krai, southwest of Irkutsk region and Kemerovo; the prospect areas of uranium are distributed in the Zabaykalsky Krai, the Republic of Buryatia and other places; the prospect areas of nickel, platinum, and platinum group metal are concentrated in the Norilsk mining area; the prospect areas of lead-zinc resources are located in the Kholodninskoye, Ozernoe and Gorevsky deposits; the prospect areas of manganese resources are concentrated in the Usinsk deposit.The mineral resources in Siberian region have great potential and low level of development.The regional development of Siberia and the strategy of China’s revitalization of the northeast region can be effectively docked with strong complementarity.Chinese enterprises should actively participate in the development of mineral resources in the Siberian region, and strengthen the infrastructure cooperation in the resource potential areas and border areas.
