    Effect of 2-octanol in reverse flotation of magnetite with dodecylamine

    • The mixture of dodecylamine (DDA) and 2-octanol can improve the dispersibility, the selectivity and the low-temperature resistance of the agent, and save the acidification of the DDA.The flotation indexes on the quartz and magnetite flotation were investigated with DDA, DDA-HCl+2-octanol and DDA-(2-octanol), respectively.The results indicated that the addition of 2-octanol obviously improved the flotation recovery of quartz, and the beneficiation efficiency of magnetite.DDA-HCl+2-octanol has the best adaptability to temperature, followed by DDA-(2-octanol), DDA.At 20℃, DDA-(2-octanol) and DDA-HCl+2-octanol are similar in the collection performance of quartz and magnetite, but the beneficiation efficiency of DDA-(2-octanol) is about 2 percentage points higher than that of DDA-HCl+2-octanol on magnetite flotation.The combination of DDA with 2-octanol provides a new method for the application of DDA and provides technical support for its industrial application in iron flotation.
