Analysis of the global distribution of scandium resources supply and demand status and suggestions

Scandium resources are very rich, the reserves are about 2 Mt, mainly distributed in China, Russia, and Australia.China's reserves are about 650 000 tons, accounting for one-third of the world.At present, the output of international scandium products is about 15 t, of which China accounts for about 2/3, and Russia and Kazakhstan are about 1/3.The main consumers of scandium products are United States, European Union, Japan and China.It mainly uses in alloy materials, solid oxide fuel cells(SOFC), scandium halide(HID)lamp, ultra-light shape memory magnesium alloy and rapid reservoir.Due to the complex recycling process, low recovery rate and high cost, the international supply of scandium products is insufficient and the price is high, which limits the wide application of its excellent performance to a certain extent.China is rich in resources of scandium, has the advantage of extracting and recycling.For this strategic key resource, in exploration and development suggestions are proposed.
