Tin resources supply and consumption pattern and trend in the Belt and Road region

    • Tin is a strategic emerging mineral resource.China is the largest producer of tin mine and refined tin and also is the largest consumer of refined tin. However, China's tin production is difficult to meet its demand, and the domestic security situation of tin resources is not optimistic. The Belt and Road (B& R) region occupies more than 60% of the world's tin resource and supplies around 80% of the world's tin mine and refined tin production. The region consumes about half of the world's refined tin consumption, but the region's tin mine production can still support its refined tin consumption in the future. Thus, relied on the Belt and Road Initiative, the cooperation between China and other countries in the B& R region can productively deploy the resources in the region and promote the sustainable development of China's tin resource.
