Abstract
Integrating the existing geological, seismic, drilling and logging data in the Muli area, this study proposes a series of methods to identify and predict the natural gas hydrate reservoir in permafrost.Gas hydrate could be well discerned using logging-derived factors, such as the factor of fissure(FF), the factor of carbon(FC), the factor of calcareous matter(FCa) and the factor of gas hydrate (FH and FHD).The energy coefficient can be calculated by spectral analysis of seismic data. Its profile indicates that the gas hydrate-bearing sedimentary layers are characterized by relatively low energy coefficients in high value backgrounds.Natural gas hydrate explorations in the Muli area verified that these methods are useful and reliable and probably could be used in other permafrost areas.
