Study on green development of mining cities in Hunan province based on ecological welfare performance

    • Realizing the green development of mining cities is an important way to solve the shortage of mineral resources and environmental pollution. Therefore, it is necessary to measure and evaluate their green development level. This paper takes mining cities in Hunan province as the research object, uses the non-radial SBM model and DEA-Malmquist model to analyze their dynamic and static ecological welfare performance, and then uses the Tobit regression model to further explore the factors affecting the dynamic ecological welfare performance of mining cities. The research results show that technological progress and investment in fixed assets can improve the dynamic ecological welfare of mining cities, while corporate pollution control actions have led to a slowdown in industrial output growth; the input and use efficiency of production factors can improve the static ecological welfare performance of mining cities. The level of economic development is not directly related to it; the level of economic development and technological innovation are the main driving factors leading to the growth of dynamic ecological welfare performance of mining cities, while the existing industrial structure and environmental regulations are its inhibitors. The research conclusions of this paper can provide theoretical basis and practical enlightenment for mining cities in Hunan province and other regions to achieve high-efficiency and green utilization of mineral resources.
