Analysis of the influence of COVID-19 on the pattern of fossil energy supplyand demand in China

    • Energy is the material basis for the survival and development of human society and has an important strategic position in the national economy. The global pandemic of COVID-19 will change the energy pattern. In the post-epidemic era, challenges and opportunities coexist, and a comparative analysis of the impact and changing trend of the epidemic on China's energy landscape is of great significance for supporting national energy situation judgment and decision-making.Based on the views of experts from energy think tanks at home and abroad, this paper combs and analyzes the impact of COVID-19 on China's fossil energy supply and demand pattern, and forecasts China's energy demand from 2020 to 2030 by setting different scenarios (epidemic situation and non epidemic situation). In the post-epidemic era, China's energy pattern will show short-term fluctuations in supply and demand and long-term stability, and energy transformation (structured and spatialized) will usher in opportunities. On the basis of responding to the challenges of the epidemic, China should seize the new opportunities for deepening the energy transformation in the post-epidemic era, and work in key areas such as energy transformation, energy policy flexibility, oil and gas core demand guarantee, technological innovation, and international energy cooperation.
