Resource endowment characteristics and prospecting progress of pegmatite type lithium mine in southern Jiangxi province

    • Lithium is praised as the green high energetic metal in the 21st century. This paper analyze the endowment characteristics which a newly discovered “lithium-bearing phosphate mineral” (amblygonite) in southern Jiangxi province, and summarized the geological characteristics of typical deposit and spatial distribution of lithium resources, and compare the characteristics of typical deposit “spodumene” and newly discovered “lepidolite”, as well as the characteristics of “typical deposit anomaly” and “newly discovered lithium anomaly”, and analyzes the mineral assemblage and zonation of lithium-bearing pegmatite veins. The analysis results show that the pegmatite type lithium deposits are mainly distributed in the external contact zone of the Caledonian intrusive rock (Huitong rock), and the ore-bodies are granitic pegmatite dikes, and the ore-controlling structures are mainly NE-trend and NEE-trend tensile cracks and turn end collapse structures of the Caledonian tight folds. The dominant lithium-bearing minerals are spodumene and amblygonite. The work discovers the “phosphorite” and “Shenghe prospecting prospect”, and the potential resources of Li2O are predicted to be 153.6 kiloton. It is of great significance to expand the subsequent prospecting direction of lithium ore in the southern Wuyishan metallogenic belt.
