Analysis of the role of barite resources in Sino-US trade relations

    • Barite resources in the United States are highly dependent on imports, and China is the largest supplier. Therefore, it is of great significance to study how to enhance the international influence of barite and make it a powerful tool for Sino-US trade.Using the methods of literature collection, comparative study and dynamic analysis, this paper studies the global reserves and distribution of barite resources as well as the supply and demand situation of Sino-US trade, and analyzes several possibilities of assuming that the United States does not import barite from China. The results show that once China’s barite supply side structure is adjusted, the United States may increase the import proportion of barite from India, Morocco and Mexico, and the price of manganese ore powder will rise.In addition, China’s high-quality barite resources are facing depletion, and the chips for China’s barite price adjustment and trade policy are insufficient at this stage.According to the research results, barite can be listed as a strategic mineral, the top barite industry structure can be optimized, and the global industrial trade policy can be adjusted, so as to enhance China’s barite international trade status and better play its international influence.
