Abstract
The Middle Magdalena Basin is one of the important oil and gas producing basins in Colombia and has great development potential. This paper systematically analyzes the evolution process, structural and petroleum geological characteristics of the Middle Magdalena Basin, as well as the source rock characteristics, reservoir characteristics, fracture development characteristics and fluid characteristics of La Luna Formation. The research show that the La Luna Formation in the Middle Magdalena Basin has the characteristics of wide distribution area, large thickness, excellent source rock quality and good reservoir physical properties. The source rock is low mature, dominated by oil and high reservoir pressure. It belongs to a typical unconventional oil and gas reservoir.La Luna Formation is a marine shelf sedimentary environment, containing a large number of biological shells, with a large number of micro pores developed in the reservoir. The mineral composition is mainly calcite/dolomite and quartz, and the clay content is low, which is conducive to fracturing. Moreover, due to the high content of calcite/dolomite, and it is conducive to acidizing transformation measures.Affected by tectonic action, the fractures of La Luna Formation are developed, which greatly improves the permeability of the reservoir.Generally speaking, the La Luna Formation in the Middle Magdalena Basin has great unconventional oil and gas resource potential and exploration and development prospects, but it is difficult to realize large-scale commercial development in the short term due to the influence of policies, environmental protection and local operating environment.
