The geological environment problems and treatment schemes of Gelagou Abandoned Open-pit Iron Mine in Fuping County, Hebei Province

Gelagou Abandoned Open-pit Iron Mine in Fuping County, Hebei Province has been abandoned for many years.Due to the long-term lack of manual treatment and maintenance, the local geological and ecological environment is seriously damaged and there are potential geological hazards.The geological environment problems seriously affect the living quality and safety of the residents around the mine and also hindering the sustainable development of red tourism economy in Fuping County.Aiming at the geological environmental problems of Gelagou Abandoned Open-pit Iron Mine, this paper conducting a geological environmental impact assessment, and designing reasonable treatments to repair damaged natural landscape and prevent possible geological hazards.This treatment schemes could minimize the geological environment problems caused by abandoned open-pit mine.Meanwhile, it is suggested that the project and vegetation should be regularly inspected and maintained during and after the treatment of the mine geological environment to ensure the quality of the project and the greening effect.In addition, this treatment scheme can provide reference for similar mine environmental treatment.
