The development trend of China’s mining industry in the new era: “battery minerals” will profoundly affect the development of mining industry

At present, the new energy era and the digital era are intertwined, profoundly changing the mining development mode and human life, promoting the reshaping of the industrial chain and supply chain, and bringing new challenges and opportunities to mining companies.One of the most remarkable features of the new era is that some minerals in new technology minerals have grown into “battery minerals”, showing an explosive growth trend and becoming ‘new oil’ in the new energy revolution.The utilization and industrialization of “battery minerals” will play an important role in the new energy era and affect the future development of mining industry.On the basis of more than 10 years’ research on the new technology minerals, combines with the current development of energy revolution, digital revolution and intelligent technology, the author puts forward a new concept of “battery minerals” for the first time, and analyzes and pointes out that there are three development trends in China mining industry.Firstly, the new energy revolution promotes the transformation of mining companies’ core power; secondly, the digital era drives science and technology to become the core competitiveness of outstanding mining companies; thirdly, intelligent technologies propel the mining industry to transition from a traditional industry into a high-tech industry.At the same time, this paper advocates that in order to achieve high-quality development of mining industry in China under the new situation, we need to require equal emphasis on resource protection and resource guarantee.It is suggested to adjust the existing mining administration policies, so as to guarantee that the supply chain of mining industry chain is secure and controlled, and bring into full play the mining industry’s basic support to China’s economic development.
