The stability of mine stope could be effected by complex factors. In order to reduce the influence of anthropic factor in the mining process of mine stope,it is necessary to analyze and evaluate the stability of mine stope.Summarizes the development process of stope stability evaluation methods in metal mines from relying on single rock mass quality evaluation index to multi-index quantitative and qualitative analysis.Which includes the classical mechanics method,Mathews stability method and national standard evaluation method which are widely used in the evaluation system, and introduces the application of numerical simulation method, uncertainty theory method and neural network method in metal mines.According to the application of each evaluation system at present, the existing problems and shortcomings are analyzed. Moreover, research demonstrates that each evaluation system has advantages and disadvantages in metal mines, and different evaluation system should be adopted for different types and sizes of mines.Proposes to use modern computer technology to realize the daily rapid collection and information management of basic data,so as to realize the rapid and continuous evaluation of stope stability evaluation methods.According to the bad occurrence conditions of “three highs and one disturbance” of deep rock mass, the stability evaluation system applicable to deep stopes should be explored.
