Bedding landslide of the thin-layered rock slope is a common, local, high-frequency and small-scale geological disaster in open pits.It can be found everywhere in the bedding slope of the ultimate pit limit, at any time during the lifecycle of mines which will affect the safe production of mines. The weak rock fabric is the internal cause while the disturbance of blasting excavation and the effect of water are the external causes. In this paper, the geological conditions, structural characteristics of the thin-layer rock mass are analyzed.Besides, with the help of micro-seismic and stress monitoring results, several cases of typical Anshan type sedimentary-metamorphic iron open pit are employed to demonstrated the incubation conditions, distribution characteristics and evolution rules of this type of landslide. The results show that bedding and schistosity structure are the basis for the development of layered fractures and the thinning of rock strata in thin-layer rock mass. This main types of landslide in the bench slope consist wedge slide and planar slide. The exposed layered free edges on the bench slope are the geometric necessary condition, and the blasting and heavy rainfall are the main trigger conditions. The sliding-traction is the main movement mode of shallow landslide, and the compound slide of inter-ramp slope landslide usually occurs under the influence of faults.
