Mine water has a long history of poor water quality and high treatment costs in China, and the mine pollution caused by mine water is particularly prominent,so mine water treatment and resource utilization has become the key to promote the construction of ecological civilization in mining areas and achieve high-quality development of the coal industry. To explore the current status, hot spots and frontier trends of research in the field of mine water treatment in China in the past 20 years, and to accurately grasp the development context of mine water treatment research in China,1 718 research papers on mine water treatment from January 1,2003 to November 10,2022 in CNKI Journal Database are selected as the sample to reveal the current research status based on bibliometric method and content analysis method.Meanwhile, knowledge maps on authors, research institutions and keywords have been drawn using the CiteSpace software to reveal the evolution of research hotspots in the field of mine water treatment in China. The results show that a relatively stable core group of authors has formed in the field of mine water treatment,in which China University of Mining and Technology,China Coal Science and Technology Group and General Research Institute of Coal are the research institutions with high academic influences.Mine water treatment, treatment process and circular economy are the hot spots of research in recent years and the research has a trend to transform into practical researches that promote the development of ecological civilization in the mining field. In future, continuous attentions will be drawn to mine water treatment researches about the zero discharge, waste heat utilization, and ecological restoration.
