    Research and practice on improving the recovery rate of copper and cobalt in Congo (Kinshasa) SICOMINES Copper-Cobalt Mine

    • Due to the oxidation rate of ore processed at this stage is much higher than the design value, this kind ore has high oxidation rates, large mud containing, poor floating resistance and floating resistance, as a result, the existing production process and flotation equipment are used to have a low recovery rate of copper and cobalt in the high oxidation rate copper-cobalt ore mineral dressing production process of Congo (Kinshasa) SICOMINES. In order to improve the recovery rate of copper and cobalt, on the basis of systematic research on the properties of the raw ore, combined with the actual production, the production process and equipment are optimized. Firstly, the cobalt flotation concentration is canceled, and the copper oxide flotation and cobalt flotation sweeping process is changed to open circuit; lastly, the number of foam diversion tanks is increased, as well as the structure and installation angle of the foam diversion tanks is improved. After improvement, the yields of copper oxide concentrate increases by 1.46 percentage points, the yields of flotation cobalt concentrate increases by 3.36 percentage points, and the increases reach 40.33% and 79.25% respectively. The recovery rate of total copper and total cobalt increase by 4.17 percentage points and 3.53 percentage points respectively. The improvement of production technology and equipment has achieved good results, which has good reference significance for the treatment of the same type of copper-cobalt ore with high oxidation rate in Congo (Kinshasa).
