Surface deformation monitoring in Yanghuopan Mining Area based on SBAS-InSAR technology

Abstract
The mining of coal and other mineral resources has caused a series of ecological environment problems, among which the land collapse and its chain disasters are particularly serious. The monitoring of surface deformation is the primary work to repair ecological environment. InSAR technology as a surface monitoring technology, has been successfully applied to the monitoring of land collapse in coal mine because of its unique advantage. A total of 58 scene Sentinel-1A SAR images from August 2020 to October 2022 are collected to monitor the surface deformation of Yanghuopan Mining Area by using Small Baseline Subsets Interferometric Synthetic Aperture Radar(SBAS-InSAR) technology, and the characteristics of deformation are interpreted by the orthoscopic optical image of UAV. According to the data and monitoring results, during the monitoring period, 3−1 coal seam is mined in the coal mine, and a total of three deformation centers are formed, which are located in the working face of the 301 and 303 panels respectively. The maximum cumulative deformation value reaches −130 mm, and the maximum average annual deformation rate is about −52 mm/a. The time series deformation law of each center is analyzed. The surface enters an accelerated deformation period after mining on the working face, and then decelerates gradually to a stable state. The results show that the location of the deformation area monitored by InSAR is basically consistent with the deformation characteristics of the coal mining face and surface fissure. The time series InSAR technology can be effectively applied to the identification and monitoring of mining deformation area, and provide technical services for the prevention and treatment of mined-out area disasters.
