Process mineralogical characteristics of low-grade copper-cobalt ore in the eastern Deziwa Deposit, Congo(DRC)

    • In order to provide a theoretical basis for the rational development and utilization of copper-cobalt low-grade ore in the eastern Diziwa deposit of Congo (DRC), the process mineralogy of the ore was studied by means of chemical analysis, MLA mineral automatic quantitative analysis system and microscope analysis, and the mineralogical factors affecting copper-cobalt leaching were pointed out. The results show that the grades of Cu and Co are 0.98% and 0.07%, respectively, and the oxidation rate of copper is 92.35%. The copper oxide minerals are mainly malachite, phosphorite and turquoise, and the cobalt minerals are mainly copper-cobalt manganese ore, hydrocobalt ore and sulfur copper-cobalt ore. The disseminated particle size of malachite and phosphorite is relatively coarse, and more than 0.02 mm accounts for about 93.38%. The main disseminated particle size range of hydrocobalt ore-copper cobalt manganese ore is 0.02-1.28 mm. Most of the copper in the ore is easy to be leached, and the acid-consuming minerals are less, which is conducive to hydrometallurgy.
