Research on hydrogeology and ore body structure characteristics of BISHOP Manganese Mine Area in South Africa

    • South Africa, as one of the world’s five major mineral resource countries, has abundant and diverse mineral resources, especially manganese ore resources, which play an important role in the world. The BISHOP manganese ore field, as an important component of the Postmasburg manganese ore field, has significant implications for scientific planning, rational mining, and environmental protection through the study of its engineering hydrogeology and ore body structural characteristics. Based on the systematic analysis of the geological overview of the Postmasburg manganese ore field, this paper systematically analyzes the engineering hydrogeological structural characteristics of the BISHOP manganese ore area. Finally, the occurrence characteristics, mining conditions, ore structure and structure of the mineral resources in the mining area are analyzed. The analysis results indicate that the BISHOP manganese mining area has good regional stability, and the engineering geological conditions of the deposit belong to the medium type of layered rocks. The hydrogeological conditions of the mining area belong to the simple type; the deposit is of submarine jet origin; the ore structure mainly includes semi automorphic grain structure, cryptocrystalline microcrystalline structure, automorphic granular structure, xenomorphic granular structure, gravel structure, etc; the ore structures mainly include banded structures, laminated structures, blocky structures, porous structures, crystal cave structures, and angular gravel structures. The research results provide basic geological data and theoretical basis for the development of a scientific and reasonable mining plan in the BISHOP manganese ore area.
