Abstract
This paper takes the Badaowan Formation coal mine in Fukang Block, Xinjiang as the research object. Through geological survey, drilling data analysis, and coal rock testing methods, the structural characteristics of the area and their control over the occurrence of coalbed methane are systematically studied. The results indicate that the Fukang Block has undergone multiple tectonic movements, forming a structural pattern dominated by thrust faults and wide and gentle folds. The coal seams of the Badaowan Formation have undergone significant structural transformation, and their occurrence state is closely related to the development characteristics of faults and folds. The occurrence of coalbed methane is jointly controlled by the physical properties of coal rock, structural stress, and hydrogeological conditions. The coalbed methane content near the fault zone in the area shows a pattern of “first increasing and then decreasing”, and the axial part of the inclined structure has good coalbed methane storage conditions. The research results provide geological basis for the exploration and development of coalbed methane resources and coal mine gas prevention and control in Fukang Block.
