Holy temple of Dongba Religion: causes and protection suggestions of Baishuitai

Baishuitai is not only a huge geological laboratory, but also a spiritual temple of Dongba culture of Naxi nationality. As the largest cold-spring carbonate sinter platform in China, Baishuitai perfectly integrates natural miracles with human history, and is a treasure that cannot be ignored in the south of colorful clouds. Its formation not only depends on the stable carbonate dissolution-upwelling-sedimentation cycle, but is also closely related to long-term climate change and geomorphological evolution, which can be called a typical representative of the plateau cold spring type Quanhua platform. This paper analyzes the factors of natural landscape degradation in Baishuitai, mainly including natural and human factors, and puts forward targeted suggestions for the protection of Baishuitai’s natural landscape, mainly including the need to optimize infrastructure, reasonably arrange tourism activities, and establish a scientific monitoring and prevention system, in order to provide support and guidance for the protection and sustainable use of Baishuitai and similar natural landscapes.
