TREATMENT OF LANDFILL LEACHATE USING COMPOUND HDTMAB-BENTONITE

Bentonite was modified with hexadecyl trimethyl ammonium bromide first,and then compounded with aluminum sulfate in this paper.The compound HDTMAB-bentonite was examined for its ability to remove COD and color in landfill leachate with the assistance of polyacrylamide.The result indicated that the treatment effect of compound HDTMAB-bentonite had been enhanced significantly.Under appropriate experimental conditions,COD and color were removed by 92.6% and 97.5% respectively.This research may provide valuable data for the modification of natural bentonite and its application in the treatment of landfill leachate.
