Numerical simulation of overlying strata movement characteristics of the caving face under the thick conglomerate layer

    • Based on the geological data of Qianqiu coal mine in Yima, the paper built a numerical model of the caving face under the thick conglomerate layer using the software UDEC to study the overlying strata movement characteristics. The numerical simulation shows that:as the increasing of mining area, the thick conglomerate layer gradually bended, then, the overlying strata yielded and the distance between the thick conglomerate layer and lower strata increased. After a certain distance, the strata on the left of caving face sink intensely, and the plastic areas of lower layers were destructed. If the caving face continues to advance, the thick conglomerate layer may break, which could cause rock burst.
