Study on process mineralogy of Australian magnetiteconcentrate

Abstract
In this paper the process mineralogy study of Australian magnetite concentrate was performed using X-ray fluorescence analysis(XRF),chemical analysis,X-ray diffraction(XRF),scanning electron microscopy(SEM),metallographic microscope and mineral liberation analyser(MLA).The sample’s chemical components,iron phase distribution,mineral compositions and mineralogical characterizations of its main iron minerals and gangue mineralswas presented in detail.The valuable mineral in the sampleisdominated by magnetite,which has high degree of mineral liberation,the gangue mineralsare mainly SiO2 and alkali metal minerals.This paper could provide mineralogical basis for beneficiation study of the magnetite concentrate.
