    Finite element analysis (FEA) of cutting mechanism of hard rock roadheader based on Pro/E and ANSYS

    • In order to study the stress and strain characteristics of a cutting mechanism of a hard rock roadheader under the effect of external loads, Pro/E software is applied for building model of the cutting mechanism of roadheader. The complete model is imported to ANSYS through the interface to build finite element model (FEM) by areas mesh. The FEA analysis of the certain type hard rock roadheader when cutting the rocks for the value of f is 14 shows that the maximum deformation of the cutting mechanism takes place in front of cutting head, the value is 2.7mm, the maximum stress takes place in the pin hole of cantilever lifting cylinder, the value is 248MPa.Research results provide the basis for improving the structure of the cutting mechanism of hard rock roadheader, ameliorating its force condition and working performance and extending useful life.
