Study on the impact of cutting coal overcapacity on ecological environment in mining area

    • China’s coal production began to decline in 2014,ending a 14-year growth in the situation. In this context,Chinese government implemented policy of cutting overcapacity, closing great amount mines with backward production capacity, integrating a large number of small and medium-sized mines, which laid the foundation for the sustainable development of new normal coal industry, but the impact of this policy on ecological environment of mining area attracted rare attention.Based on SPOT5/ZY-3 high-resolution remote sensing images in September 2008,December 2010 and December 2015,by remote sensing (RS) and geographic information system (GIS),taking Peibei coal mine of Xuzhou as an example, establishing the evaluation model to evaluate the ecological environment quality in 2008,2010,2015,then compared with the coal production in this mining area. The results show that coal production can improve the ecological environment of mining area, and the coal production is negatively correlated with the change of ecological environment.
