    The transformation of mining cities:challenges,opportunities and solutions

    • With reference to the status-quo of mining cities in China, two thirds are stepping into the later stage, and one fourth are confronted with resources exhaustion. A series of problems in the economic, social and environmental fields have been sprung up in China's mining cities, which threatens the cities' long-run development. Thus, it is urgent to advance the transformation and upgradation of mining cities. The paper presents the challenges in China's mining cities, and analyses the opportunities in terms of macro-policies concerning the cities' transformation and development. Based on the analysis, the paper put forwards a package of recommendations for the transformation and upgradation of China's mining cities.
